INFO: Using `new ChromeOptions()` is preferred to `DesiredCapabilities.chrome()` I am not getting any errors, just nothing happens after this: TEST STARTED: test This job starts the first test as always and then stucks. It was working fine for a few months, but today it is just stopped working for an unknown reason. I don’t know where I can get earlier versions of Chrome since 45 is out now.I am trying to start a job in Jenkins, which executes a Selenium script. I’ve gone to “Services” and disabled Superfetch, I don’t have that CyberLink YouCam shit so I didn’t worry about that, I’ve deleted the AppData folder for Google… I have followed this thread to a T with the exception of reformatting my harddrive and reinstalling Vista.Ĭhrome was working just fine Thursday 9/3, then sometime on Friday 9/4 it just stopped working.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it more times than I care to count, tried system restore twice (only to have Windows tell me on start up that Restore did not successfully finish), and even deleted the registry keys for Google. The second I reconnect to the internet, Chrome stops working. I get the “Google Chrome has stopped working” error each and every time I open the browser, but if I disconnect from the internet Chrome starts up just fine and I can navigate through it. Well, I have tried every “fix” above, and I am still unable to start Chrome. So, if you’re having this issue, I hope you stumble onto this little piece of guidance and that it hopefully saves you a few hours of frustration.

I cannot speak for the paid versions and given the reputation of Bitdefender I’m still hoping they’ll respond as I would like to try their software out.

So, eventually it occurred to my why not just “set back” the system, i.e., do a Windows System Restore to a few hours when I started experiencing this issue and after restoring the system I got the same error message upon trying to open Google Chrome except I deleted Google Chrome and re-installed it again and VOILA!!! My Google Chrome is working again! If you’re looking for anti-malware and anti-virus software I would be wary of the “free” versions because although people seem to love these upstarts and their free versions, they MAY cause issues. After using their “un-install” software that didn’t work either. I went to Malwarebytes and Bitdefender to find their “un-install” software just in case the typical way of “un-installing” things didn’t work. I downloaded some Software Remover from Google that supposedly removed software that causes issues with Google Chrome and nothing. I re-installed Google Chrome no less than three times. I would get the following Windows error: “Google Chrome has stopped working.” I deleted everything in reverse order all to no avail - yes I’m a little poetic. So, I basically had an ISSUE after downloading Malwarebytes’ anti-malware software and Bitdefender’s anti-virus software as it seems to have collided with my Google Chrome not starting although my IE and Firefox worked fine. This isn’t a “response” but rather trying to provide my approach to fix this after several hours of frustration I found a less than technical workaround that worked just fine for my immediate purposes of ensuring that Google Chrome browser would work as it originally did. Have another suggestion? Lets discuss it in the comments below.

The browser creates a new user profile which you can use for tests to see if it resolves the issue you are experiencing. On Windows, open %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\ in Windows Explorer and rename the Default profile to Defaultbackup after you exit the web browser. This may point you to other programs or files that conflict with Chrome. It displays any conflicts that the browser recognized. If you can start Chrome for a short time, load chrome://conflicts/ in the address bar.If you have issues with one particular version, try switching to another channel for the time being, or installing an older version of the browser instead of the latest one that is causing the issue. If that does not work, use a program such as Revo Uninstaller to get completely rid of Google Chrome before installing the browser again. Uninstall the Google Chrome browser first before you run the installer. If that does not work, try the following solutions instead
